Privacy policy
This policy explains how Otto Scooter Ltd, trading as Moon Bike Rentals, collects, uses and protects your personal data, under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Otto Scooter Ltd is the data controller.
Data we collect
We collect the information you give us when you enquire, book a test ride or rent — such as your name, contact details and payment information — together with bike GPS/telematics data and, where a bike is fitted with one, camera footage.
GPS, telematics & cameras
Every bike carries a GPS tracker/telematics unit and may carry a camera. We use this location data and footage for theft recovery, damage investigation, cooperation with law enforcement, and the security of the fleet. The lawful bases are the performance of our contract with you and our legitimate interests in protecting the bikes.
How we use it
We use your data to provide and manage your rental, arrange servicing, operate GPS tracking and theft recovery, take payments, and communicate with you about your account. Lawful bases: performance of a contract, compliance with legal obligations, and our legitimate interests in running and protecting the fleet.
Sharing
We share data only as needed to run the service and meet legal obligations — with our insurers, payment providers, credit reference agencies, HMRC, the police, debt collection agencies and HireGuard — and where otherwise required by law. We do not sell your personal data.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access your personal data, to have it rectified, and to have it erased, as well as rights to restrict or object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Retention
We keep your data only as long as necessary to provide the service and meet our legal obligations, then delete or anonymise it.
